About Our Farm
Store, Cafe & Stay.
All true to nature and love.
Purchased in the early 1980s as a beef-growing farm by Swiss immigrant Addy Maurer, the farm was a long-term vision of peace and tranquility on the beautiful Phillip Island. To add to the income of the farm, OMARU, named after the aboriginal word for a “beautiful view” Addy established an olive grove in 1996 with the planting of 350 trees. This grove has matured and contributed greatly to the income of the farm, complementing the beef cattle. Addy passed away leaving his present wife, Rosie Maurer in charge of the farm to which she has done an amazing job of further expanding the farm with over 300 free-range chickens producing beautiful eggs that are sought by many so far as Melbourne. The farm has magnificent views over Western Port and the Nobbies area with pristine pastures and grass-fed beef. Rosie’s love for nature has expanded the farm which now features accommodation with a wonderful working farm stay experience alongside the unparalleled beach and coastal views. The Omaru cafe known for its buzzing ambiance and specialties of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine is well-sought after among communities of Phillip Island. Make sure you try our wide range of organic and flavorful seasoning, spices, and products from our Farm Store during a visit. You are always welcome to the incredible hospitality of Omaru Farm.
